I just went to see the major 3D movie
Coraline, and I have nothing but praise for this work of cinematic genius.
SPOILER ALERT!! IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE, CONTINUE.
Not only is this the first stop motion movie to be made in 3D, it's one of the best stop motion films ever made. This is coming from a die-hard
Nightmare Before ist
Christmas fan.
The animation is flawless. The
hair and
clothing moves in a lifelike way, the water and lighting effects are expertly done, and the incorporation of CG characters, in the form of three trapped child ghosts was perfect. I'd say THE best stop motion film ever in the way of detail and fluidity.
I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I loved it. The heartwarming story revolves around a spunky tomboy named, what else, Coraline. Her family moves into the
Pink Castle Apartment building. Between the move and her distant parents, life seems bleak for
Coraline. Until she stumbles on a door that's been hidden in the wall of her new home. Her adventures in a perfect parallel world, that's been created just for her by an evil witch will dazzle any audience.
Definitely 2 thumbs up from me.
My only
criticism for this movie is the content. The movie is Rated
PG, but some of the scenes can get scary, and there is one scene in particular that I find a little
PG13. Anyone who's seen the movie will know that there is a scene in the "other world" where Coraline enters a theater and watches a show her elderly actress neighbors perform.
There is brief partial nudity in this scene, and I personally think parents should screen this before letting their 6 year olds watch.
I'll be posting several links to professional reviews and the movie's site below.
Good luck, and try to see this movie while it's still in theaters!

Thanks, and I'll be posting later
